We recently celebrated my wife’s birthday. Throughout our 51-year relationship and almost 49 years of marriage, I’ve presented Cynthia countless homemade Birthday, Valentine and Anniversary cards, booklets and gifts. Beginning in 2020, I began creating DVD covers featuring Cynthia, based on the actual DVD covers of TV shows we watched as kids and young adults. Since then, every February 27, I post them on Facebook, along with a sentiment inspired by the TV show. For your viewing pleasure, meet my incredible, multi-faceted wife:

Ricky has his Lucy. Well … this Ricky has his Cindy. A very, very Happy Birthday to Cynthia from the luckiest Ricky alive. You bring so much joy and laughter to my life! And more than a few surprises, as in “Cyyyyynteee-ah, you got some ‘splainin to do!” It’s not original but none the less true: You’re not getting older, just better. My hope is that you experience a shower of well-wishes and blessings on this, your special day.

ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A LITTLE GIRL WHO WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL IN ARLINGTON, TEXAS. AFTER GRADUATING, SHE WENT ON TO VARIOUS MUNDANE JOBS, BUT I TOOK HER AWAY FROM ALL OF THAT. NOW SHE’S MARRIED TO ME. MY NAME IS CHARLES RICHARD BOYD, JR.“Good morning, Angel. It’s time to have some fun! For your birthday celebration, your scene of operation will be Tulsa, Oklahoma. Beginning this afternoon, we’ll attend a Catalyst Quartet concert at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. This evening, we’ll enjoy dinner at a restaurant of your choice before retiring to a luxurious hotel. Following breakfast and a late checkout, we’ll enjoy the morning shopping at Utica Square, a late lunch at Queenies and an afternoon stroll through the Gathering Place before returning home. I love you, Cynthia, and can’t imagine living without your angelic presence in my life.”

I’m so blessed to share this life with you. And to be the recipient of so many of your smiles. I love you and thank God for you every day … and especially today!
